The two laureates will share the prize of 11 million Swedish Kroner, which is roughly £810,000. Their contributions have helped advance machine learning, according to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Regardless of being known as the “Godfather of AI”, Professor Geoffrey Hinton resigned from Google in 2023, as he said that there were potential risks in artificial intelligence technology.
